Denise Ardelle Brown Johnson 56, departed this life on Thursday, September 10, 2015. She was baptized at an early age at Wesley Methodist Church. She married Warren Michael Johnson, from this union one daughter Mikaela was born.
Denise received her primary and high school education in the schools of Terrebonne Parish. She attended and graduated from Louisiana State University. While at LSU she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She later received her masters from Southern University; 30 plus hours were earned at Nicholls University. She has taught in the schools of Terrebonne Parish for 31 years.
She recently appeared on WWL Early Morning Show. She had dreams of writing a cook book. Being a dedicated teacher. Denise taught and mentored her students so that they would be able to move sucessfully, from the classroom to the workforce.
Denise was voted Teacher of the year because of this dedication. Denise was just a beautiful person, she was friendly, outgoing, considerate, religious and very thoughtful. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Warren Michael Johnson; her mother, Irma W. Brown; one daughter, Mikaela Ardelle Johnson all of Houma,LA; one sister Faye James Gardner of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers, Ronald Wesley (Joan) of Colorado Springs, CO, Clarence O. Brown III of Gonzales, LA and Julian Brown of Thibodaux, LA. Godsons, John Woodley of Maryland and Stanley Williams of Atlanta, GA; four aunts, Anna Palm and Leona Phillips of New Orleans, LA, Joyce Thompson (Frank) of Vacherie, LA, Claudie Brown of Houma,LA, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
Denise was preceded in death by her father, Clarence O. Brown, Jr; one brother, Cedric Vanocour Brown, grandparents, Henry Wesley, Jr., Ruby Scott Wesley, Clarence O. Brown, Sr., Mable Lewis Brown George Williams and Leola Gilbert Williams; three aunts, Olive Brown Cooper, Dorothy W. Verrett and Leontine Harris.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360 from 1:00 -8:00p.m.
Her home going service will be held at New Rising Sun Baptist Church 230 St. Charles St., Houma, LA 70360 on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Her service will be officiated by Reverebd Terry Lindsey. She will have visitation from 10:00a.m. until funeral time at 1:00p.m. She will be buried at St. Francis Cemetery II.
